What do we do when we stumble
Christ stands at the door and knocks, if you let him in you can inherit eternal life. The enemy stands at the door as well, but he brings deception and addictions of desires for things that go against the will of God. In the movies, a vampire (the symbol of death), can only enter into your house if you invite him in. Once in, they own you. Your spiritual enemy works in the same fashion. Inviting in Christ brings the Holy Spirit that forgives all sin, and cleans you up. From that point on, it’s up to you, to keep the enemy out.
God will clean you up, but Satan is right there trying to drag you back in. God allows this. It’s up to you to overcome it. You are the one that opened the door, so you have to be the one to over come it. This is how: through repentance and prayer, God will cleanse you, but then you have to keep that door shut. You will be tempted, and you will fall, and end up having to start all over again with repentance and prayer. You just have to make sure you get stronger each time, and get to where you win more battles than you loose. Once you open that door and let the desire in, it will consume you. That will be all you think about. You wanton desire will push God right back out your door. You cannot serve two masters at the same time.
Mathew 12:43-45 43) When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44) Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished (put in order). 45) Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
The more doors you have opened for the enemy, or the more things you have allowed yourself to get involved in during the years, the more demons you will have to fight off. When I talk about fighting off, demons, I simply mean, you’ll have more evil desire at your door wanting in, tempting you in various different things. All the things you have sinfully enjoyed before you gave your heart to God. The Lord would have delivered you from all these, but it doesn’t take the enemy long, to try and regain their ground. They do this through temptation, and you must not open that door.
James 1:12-16 12) Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust (desires), and enticed. 15) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16) Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
Some Christians after the Lord has cleaned them, get tempted and re-open some of those doors. Then they try and justify that to themselves, that’s its ok. They know deep down it isn’t, because if ever confronted by another Christian, they would never admit that they do that. These demons will end up controlling them and driving them deeper and deeper into that desire, and all the time driving Christ farther and farther away.
Battling these desires is like stepping into a boxing ring. Through Christ and his blood, he cleanses you, therefore or the Lord, knocks the desire down for the ten count. You raise your arms in victory and celebrate. Dropping you guard, then the desire gets up and cunningly finds away to worm itself back up and knocks you down again. It’s a giant circle, over an over until one side finally wins all.
I don’t dare presume to know the answers to these things, but its almost like you’re the release for these demons. And when you let them in, they take over and you’re just along for the ride. You become almost like a robot being controlled by these desires that are stronger than your will to stop them. It doesn’t matter whether your battle is with sexual sins like adultery or fornication, or if your battle is with theft, alcohol, profanity, pornography, or any of the many others, these are battles you must win to have victory in your life. What ever it is you may be battling, always be on your guard. When you see something whether on TV or at the beach or anywhere that seems to activate your weakness, you will be able to feel it. It’s almost like you can feel the beasts waking up inside you. That is when you need to act. That is when it’s at its weakest point and easy to close your eyes or plug your ears, and meditate of things of God.
Romans 5:8-11 8) But God commendeth (demonstrates) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11) And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
In closing, remember this, that where sin abounds, the grace of God abounds much more.
Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.
